The Pharmaceutical Plant Company produces an extensive range of Homoeopathic remedies.
Homeopathy: The practice of treating syndromes and conditions, based on the central tenet of ‘let like cure like’ (similia similibus curentur) and the principles of homoeopathic pharmacy – serial dilution and succussion of a mother tincture in water, ethanol, aqueous ethanol.
A homoeopathic preparation is usually designated by the Latin name of the stock, followed by an indication of the degree of dilution.
Homeopathic Potency: The potencies of homeopathic drugs are specified in terms of dilution, i.e.,
‘nX’, where each dilution is a decimal or ten-fold dilution and ‘n’ is the number of dilutions such that the total dilution is 10n
‘nC’, where each dilution is a centesimal or hundred-fold dilution and ‘n’ is the number of dilutions such that the total dilution is 100n.
‘nM’, where each dilution is a millitesimal or thousand-fold dilution and ‘n’ is the number of dilutions such that the total dilution is 1000n.
‘LM’ potencies represent a dilution ratio of 1:50,000.
Potentisation & Succussion: The process of potentisation involves the repeated dilution and jarring/shaking (succussion) of a substance to remove its toxic effects. Theoretically, this amplifies the healing effects. Dilution reduces the toxicity of the original substance and succussion releases the dormant energy of that substance into the liquid carrier to give the remedy its healing effect.
